What Is Lip Filler?

Lip filler uses a soft hyaluronic acid gel to enhance the lips — adding gentle volume, improving definition along the lip border, correcting asymmetry or restoring fullness lost with age. Hyaluronic acid also attracts water, so many patients notice their lips feel more hydrated.

Our approach is deliberately natural. Lip filler done well should suit your face and move naturally when you talk and smile — not announce itself.

Is It Right for You?

Lip filler tends to suit people who would like more definition, balance between the upper and lower lip, a little more volume, or to replace fullness that has reduced with time. For a very subtle change to the upper lip without filler, a lip flip using anti-wrinkle injections may be an alternative.

We consider your lips in proportion to your whole face. If more volume would not improve your result, we will say so.

Benefits

  • Natural-looking definition and gentle volume
  • Can correct mild asymmetry
  • Improves lip hydration and smoothness
  • Reversible, as all fillers used are hyaluronic acid based
The Process

Your Treatment Journey

Consultation

We discuss the look you would like, assess your lip shape, proportions and facial balance, and take a medical history including any history of cold sores.

Treatment

Numbing cream is applied, and the filler — which contains local anaesthetic — is placed in small amounts with a fine needle or cannula. Treatment takes 30–45 minutes.

Recovery

Lips are commonly swollen and tender for two to three days, sometimes with bruising. Avoid kissing, straws, hot drinks, exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.

Results & Aftercare

Initial swelling makes lips look fuller than the final result. They settle over about two weeks. We provide aftercare and a review if needed.

Maintenance

Lip filler usually lasts six to nine months, as the lips move constantly. Returning is your choice — many patients find they need less over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my lips look natural?

That is our priority. We use small amounts, built gradually, to suit your face.

How long does lip filler last?

Typically six to nine months.

How much filler will I need?

Many patients start with 1ml or less. We recommend only what your lips need.

Does it hurt?

Lips are sensitive, but numbing cream and anaesthetic within the filler make it very manageable for most people.

I get cold sores — can I still have it?

Yes, but filler can trigger a flare. Let us know at consultation and we can advise on preventative treatment beforehand.

Can lip filler be dissolved?

Yes, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.
